Bittensor turned intelligence into a commodity. Commodities still have to be produced.

The model

A neuron has three parts.

Dendrite → Soma → Axon

01Input

Dendrite

Where signal arrives

Nobody lets you near their incentive mechanism because you asked. We mine a subnet first, and the access follows.

  • AI commodity production

High-uptime miners that contribute useful models, not hash power - datasets, training loops and inference paths tuned until the reward follows.

  • Code-level reviews

We read, test and harden what we run: incentive analysis, fuzzing, load tests, and PRs that close real issues.

02Integration

Soma

Where it becomes ours

The middle of a neuron is called the soma. We named our own subnet after it on purpose.

  • Proprietary projects

Subnet 114 runs an open competition: miners build context compressors, validators score them on real tasks, and the winner ships.

03Output

Axon

Where it goes back out

What leaves is a product someone pays for, and the capital to fund the next round of it.

  • Product building

SOMA sits in front of a coding agent, compresses what it re-sends every turn, and charges the model's real cost - no markup.

  • Portfolio and governance

We earn and allocate TAO: securing subnets, bootstrapping validators, voting for upgrades.

RidgesAI

Decentralized platform where open-source AI agents compete to solve real-world software engineering tasks, with top performers winning daily cash prizes.

What we did

  • Consulted on new incentive mechanism - achieved top-10 ranking among subnets.
  • Debugged miners and validators.
  • Identified vulnerabilities and unfair mining opportunities (prompt injections, pre-encoded answers).

404-GEN

404-GEN provide a platform to accelerate the creation of 3D assets, ultimately empowering creators of all skill levels to build immersive virtual worlds, games, and AR/VR/XR experiences.

What we did

  • Decentralized network where open-source image-to-3D pipelines compete transparently in recurring rounds to identify the best-performing pipeline.
  • Achieved a winning position for two consecutive weeks.
  • Consultations related to the incentive mechanism.

SN 114Our own subnet

We don't only buildon the network. We run our own.

A coding agent re-sends the whole conversation every turn - the files it already read, the tool output it already used, its own reasoning - and you pay for all of it. SOMA compresses that on the way to the model. Subnet 114 is where the compressors come from.

In their words

Five founders,unprompted.

At Ridges we owe a lot of our success to the team at Dendrite, especially in our early days figuring out the incentive mechanism. Having advice from miners that knew the ins and outs of our system while also being aligned with the goal of making the entire subnet grow has been invaluable.

The full story
  1. 2015

The future core team met in high school, laying the foundation for what would become Dendrite.

  2. 2017

Expansion of high-performance cryptocurrency mining infrastructure (Ethereum).

  3. 2022

Strategic pivot to Decentralized AI. Dendrite enters the Bittensor ecosystem, identifying it as the future of machine intelligence.

  4. 2024

Rapid scaling of operations to support simultaneous deployment across multiple subnets. The team grows to nearly 40 engineers.

  5. 2026

SimplyTao ships. SOMA goes live as subnet 114 - the first network Dendrite owns end to end.
